Compassionate Depossession is the gentle, unconditionally loving practice of helping incarnate and disincarnate beings to freedom. In this 3-day non-residential workshop, we will safely explore the common — if extraordinary — illness of spirit possession. The training is designed for serious shamanic practitioners who have a strong working relationship with a helping spirit(s) and who are finding the need for accomplished skills in this area.
This work is in the lineage of the ground-breaking compassionate teachings of Betsy Bergstrom and includes the comprehensive cosmology of depossession and psychopomp landscapes, techniques for clearing possessing spirits, demonstrations, and practical experience. It contains many practical skills for the shamanic practitioner as well as knowledge that counselors and psychotherapists can utilize in their practice.
Cecile Carson, MD, is a graduate of Bergstrom’s Compassionate Depossession Teacher Training and has studied extensively with the Foundation for Shamanic Studies. She has been a shamanic practitioner for over 25 years. Her previous clinical work for many years was in counseling people with life-threatening illness. She is editor of Spirited Medicine: Shamanism in Contemporary Healthcare, and is a Founding Board Member of the Society for Shamanic Practitioners.
