One of the great tragedies of our times in Western culture is that we have lost our inner compass. We have disconnected from our deep nature, our soul, our relationship to the greater web of life. With the rapid pace of life and the distractions of our technologies and possessions, we find it difficult to remember who we really are and what our life is really about.
Traditional cultures worldwide have used a powerful ritual of separation from ordinary life and immersion into the depths of nature as a soul initiation: to remember how to listen, to attend to “the still small voice,” to the wildness inside us that has important things to teach us about how to be whole. A vision quest is one form of this separation. It includes a day of ceremonial preparation followed by two days and nights of being out on the land alone, then a return to community and reflection of what the vision means for one’s life.
The dates are Friday morning August 6 to Sunday evening August 8, 2010. The initial ceremonial preparation will be at High Pond Retreat Center in Honeoye, and questers will be placed in sites in the immediate vicinity in the Bristol Hills.
If you are interested, please phone Cecile Carson at 585-271-5650 to discuss details and whether this is a propitious time for your quest.
The fee for the 3 days is $325 and includes a light breakfast on Friday morning, as well as a celebratory dinner on Sunday evening.
